My Secret Door

.

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.”  Helen Keller

I found it amazing how a simple door can have so many meanings. I have my favorite meaning and therefore decided to design a little door charm to wear as a necklace to remind me of what the door represents to me. Whatever this door means to you is personal and is a treasure to share with others. What does this little door charm symbolize to you?

The door could be the door of opportunity brought to in a way that seemed supernatural. All you have to do is have the courage to open the door. There is a quote that says the door will be opened to those who are bold enough to knock! There are scriptures in the Bible about how God opens the door of opportunity and when it closes another door is always open. A great example of how this happens is provided by Ben Carson who said, “I always pray for God's guidance in my life, and he always provides it. He opens the right doors, and he shuts the right doors. And I have tremendous faith in him. He just guided my career in an amazing way.”

This could also be the door to your heart. We are to guard our hearts and minds to keep ourselves strong and protected. But we must also be wise and mindful of opening the door and breaking down the brick walls and doors we sometimes build around our heart. Life is too short to hide behind a door. When we open the door and let someone in, that person becomes a part of our life and our joy and will experience a gateway to our soul. Your door can be a symbol of safety and security. And when opened to others can provide a bright light of warmth, love and giving opportunities.

My favorite reason to wear this little charm is that it is a secret symbol that I am a Christian. This can “open the door” to have a conversation with someone who may ask me about the door. This provides a wonderful opportunity to share with someone the revelation and joy of the gospel of love.  Jesus said, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”   Revelation 3:20 (NIV). Open the door and let Jesus into your heart to receive eternal salvation and peace. I will gladly share this story with any who wants to hear. This shiny charm is just a “little door” but has a big meaning.

Now, if someone asks you about your charm, you have a great story to tell!
